Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a celebratory message to Jews today in preparation for Rosh Hashanah.
Netanyahu urged the global Jewish community to unite for the New Year celebration and to take the past year’s challenges in stride.
He acknowledged Jews surviving under anti-Semitic governments and cultures, and encouraged them to "live proudly and without fear."
"As we celebrate Rosh Hashanah with our family and our friends, we should also celebrate the strength we derive from our commitment to one another," Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu touted the success of Israel including its "vibrant democracy" and "robust economy." He also acknowledged Israel’s devotion to remaining a "beacon of freedom and human rights in an intolerant area."
Rosh Hashanah begins Wednesday evening at sundown.
