Neera Tanden, president of the Center for American Progress, appeared on MSNBC's Daily Rundown to talk about her former boss, Hillary Clinton.
Host Peter Alexander brought up Democrats' concern that Hillary Clinton may be too "hawkish" on foreign policy for the party.
"On Syria right now, I mean, on these issues, she's I'm sure, very aligned with the president," Tanden replied.
"She had a different position a few years ago," Tanden acknowledged, referring to Clinton's desire to arm the Syrian rebels during her time at the State Department.
In her book Hard Choices, Clinton made a point of noting her disagreement with Obama's decision not to go further in arming the rebels.
Several recent polls have found that a majority of Americans are unhappy with Obama's cautious foreign policy.
