North Carolina Democratic consultant Brad Crone gave some interesting advice to Republicans while speaking Wednesday on a panel hosted by the John Locke Foundation.
Crone said the best thing Republicans could do to help incumbent Sen. Kay Hagan (D., N.C.) would be to nominate either Rev. Mark Harris or Dr. Greg Brannon.
"The best thing that the Republicans could do to help Kay Hagan would be to nominate a Brannon, or to nominate a Mark Harris," he said.
However, according to the latest Real Clear Politics averages Hagan trails both conservative candidates. No poll included in the average has shown Hagan ahead of either candidate since February.
Hagan has tried to distance herself from President Obama in recent months but remains staunchly pro-Obamacare, likely helping the Republican primary field.
