Mook: We'll 'Consider' a Clinton Press Conference

August 24, 2016

Hillary Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook said Wednesday that the campaign would "consider" a press conference with her travelling press corps.

Clinton has not held a press conference since last December, a period of more than 260 days.

"Your candidate's number one vulnerability is the fact that as flawed as Donald Trump is, she has a double-digit deficit on the question of honesty and trustworthiness," panelist Nicolle Wallace said. "Isn't the antidote to this to sit her down today in front of your travelling press corps, people like Andrea Mitchell who can certainly appreciate the contributions of people like Melinda Gates and others, and let her take questions until there are no more questions to be answered?"

Mook has maintained that Clinton has been answering questions and has done well over 300 interviews. Mook tried to change the subject to Clinton's competitor Donald Trump and his foreign connections.

Wallace again pushed back and asked if Clinton had plans to do a press conference Wednesday.

"We're considering everything every day," Mook said. "She's been answering questions and she'll continue to do that."

Since the beginning of her campaign, Clinton has struggled with her honest and trustworthy numbers. A July CNN poll found that 65 percent still do not think that the presidential candidate is honest or trustworthy, which is up from her May numbers that had her at 59 percent.

In addition to her conference drought, there are videos of Clinton simply ignoring questions from reporters on the rope line. Clinton smiles, waves and shouts that she is happy to be where she is.
