After being chosen as Donald Trump’s vice president, Governor Mike Pence (R., Ind.) has been forced to stare into the abyss.
Pence appeared Sunday with Trump on 60 Minutes for their first joint interview with Lesley Stahl.
During the interview, Stahl brought up Trump’s criticism of his opponent Hillary Clinton and her vote to go to war with Iraq in 2003. Trump interjected and said he was one of the few people who was right that the United States should not have invaded Iraq, despite his previous statements showing that he favored sending troops there. Stahl brought up the fact that his running mate Pence also voted to invade Iraq. Trump then proceeded to laugh and say that Pence is entitled to make a mistake or two.
Pence smiled and let out a small chuckle.
Pence brings six terms in Congress and one term as governor to the GOP presidential ticket, which up to this point has had no previous political experience.
