John Dickerson: Hillary Clinton’s Problems Include Obama Ties, Lack of Humility

April 13, 2015

Hillary Clinton has announced that she is running for president but faces a perception problem, according to CBS News’ John Dickerson.

Clinton has been criticized as cold and polarizing, and still has not outlined why she is running for president. Dickerson said Clinton will have to change the perception people have her from over the years.

Dickerson said that another challenge Clinton faces whether she can keep the message up over the next 16 months, especially with the Republican Party attacking her and her record.

When Dickerson was asked if Clinton would need to distance herself from President Obama he said that it will be hard for her.

"The question is how far will she get," Dickerson said. "She was in the administration and also the president has some constituencies in the Democratic Party that she needs him to help her with. And that will be a constant delicate balance."

Another challenge Clinton faces is a perceived lack of humility.

"When you are humble usually people say, ‘Boy, he’s humble,’" Dickerson said. "You don’t say it about yourself. But why humble, because we have seen so much drama in previous Clinton campaigns."
