Sen. Rob Portman’s (R., Ohio) campaign released a new ad on Tuesday starring Ohioan and golf legend Jack Nicklaus.
The ad, titled "Ohio’s Champion," features Nicklaus praising the incumbent senator, who is campaigning for his second term against former Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland.
"Rob is the real deal. He’s making a difference and standing up for American manufacturing and fighting to strengthen our military to keep us safe," Nicklaus said.
"Rob Portman is Ohio’s champion," Nicklaus added.
Portman holds a strong lead over Strickland in the race, according to recent polling. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee recently pulled some of its advertising from the state, in what some say is an abandonment by national Democrats of Strickland’s campaign.
