Huckabee Sanders: Corker Questioning Trump's Competence Is 'Ridiculous and Outrageous'

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Thursday that Sen. Bob Corker's (R., Tenn.) questioning of President Donald Trump's stability was "ridiculous and outrageous" and did not dignify a response.

"The president has not yet been able to demonstrate the stability, nor some of the competence, that he needs to demonstrate in order for him to be successful," Corker told a local reporter last week.

A reporter read some of Corker's comments and asked Sanders, "Do you have any response to that from a Republican senator?"

"I think that is a ridiculous and outrageous claim and doesn't dignify a response from this podium," Sanders responded before moving onto another topic.

Corker's remarks were his harshest yet about Trump, who once considered him to be part of his administration.

"He also recently has not demonstrated that he understands the character of this nation," Corker said. "He has not demonstrated that he understands what has made this nation great and what it is today. And he's got to demonstrate the characteristics of a president who understands that. Without the things I just mentioned happening, our nation is going to go through great peril."
