David Irving, a Holocaust denier and discredited historian, is leading a tour of World War II sites in Latvia and Poland.
According to the Times of Israel, Irving’s nine-day "Real History" tour includes Hitler’s "Wolf’s Lair" headquarters and the Treblinka and Belzec concentration camps. The trip costs $3,000 per person.
The "Real History" tour website encourages participants to "Make up your own mind about the truth." A brochure posted on the site says that the tour will not include "phony allures, mass tourism, and ‘reconstructions’ of present-day Auschwitz—the erstwhile slave-labor camp turned into a tourist attraction, complete with hot-dog vendors and souvenir stands!"
When asked whether his tour will fuel anti-Semitism, Irving told the Jerusalem Post, "The Jews should ask, Why us? It is not for me to ask that question. Maybe it’s how they have acted over the thousands of years. Maybe it is all our fault. Our Riga tour includes the NKVD headquarters, and the Skirotawa train station, where Jews also played a role."
The Jerusalem Post reports that 13 people are currently signed up for the tour: a Russian, three Americans, two Britons, a New Zealander, a Canadian, a Frenchman, and a Swede.
Irving, who is from the United Kingdom, has been giving "Real History" tours since 2010. He is barred from Austria, Germany, Italy, and Canada.
