Washington Free Beacon staff writer Elizabeth Harrington said Wednesday on Fox News that she does not think George W. Bush will be able to save Jeb Bush's Republican presidential candidacy.
When asked by Jon Scott if the former president can rescue his brother's candidacy in South Carolina, Harrington was doubtful.
"I don't think he can. What was so interesting about George W. Bush's appearance on behalf of his brother is it really exemplified the problems that Jeb has had throughout this campaign. Which is, he just does not have the political gifts that his brother has.
"And George W. Bush gives this speech. He's very charming, he's funny and he's serious at the same time. Once he gets off the stage, and he hands it over to Jeb, people started leaving. About a third of the crowd left. They were only there to see W. So, really Jeb Bush just does not have the gifts that his brother has and it makes it easy to see, when you see George W. Bush talking, why he was able to win the White House twice and a lot of voters just don't see those same qualities in Jeb."
When asked about Donald Trump, Harrington said that "it is likely he will win South Carolina, and once that happens, you know, they need a better challenger to Trump because he could run away with this thing."
