Feinstein Fears Repeat of the 1968 DNC

May 18, 2016

California Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein told CNN Wednesday that she fears a repeat of the 1968 Democratic National Convention with the current unrest gripping her party.

Feinstein was asked if she is worried that Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) will take the fight against Hillary Clinton to the DNC this July for a contested convention.

The 1968 DNC in Chicago turned violent due to a clash between anti-war protestors and over 11,900 Chicago police officers.

"Well, it worries me a great deal. You know, I don’t want to go back to the 68’ convention because I worry about what it does to the electorate as a whole and [Bernie Sanders] should too," Feinstein said.

The Democratic National Convention will be held in Philadelphia this July.
