Hillary Clinton campaign strategist Joel Benenson insisted on Thursday that the polls in North Carolina were all wrong when they showed Donald Trump beating Clinton.
When Benenson said that Republicans were on defense in North Carolina, MSNBC host Chuck Todd called out Benenson on this assertion.
"I don't know where you're winning," Todd said. "The only North Carolina poll you would be ahead in would be your own, because every other public poll this week has shown [Trump winning] for what it's worth. So, you feel that confident that you're ahead in North Carolina and all the public polls there are wrong?"
"I think we're on offense in North Carolina, I do," Benenson said.
Recent polls have shown Trump gaining ground in North Carolina and even leading or tied with Clinton. This comes as Trump has seen a rise in polls around the country and is now leading in some battleground states, such as Florida, Ohio and Iowa.
