Chuck Todd: Obama's Dismal Approval Result Of Weak Foreign Policy

October 15, 2014

NBC Political Correspondent Chuck Todd said Wednesday that President Obama’s declining approval rating is in part due to his weak handling of foreign policy.

The Meet the Press host told MSNBC’s Peter Alexander that the president’s "rating on foreign policy went down another point," according to a NBC/Wall Street Journal poll published on Tuesday.

"The public's not satisfied with the response so far, with the president, when it comes to ISIS," Todd said. "They believe it's in the national interest."

The poll also showed a significant number of Americans support sending ground troops to fight the Islamic State.

"Not a majority who are in favor [of ground troops], but it went from 34 percent, now it's up to 41 percent in a matter of a month," Todd said. "You wonder, you have a public that's willing to do more."

The poll found only 40 percent of Americans approve of Obama's handling of the presidency.
