NBC's Andrea Mitchell gave play-by-play commentary of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the White House on Wednesday, calling it pretentious.
"Now it is just the four of them standing there with their Marine guard. It's a little bit of a Potemkin village feel to this," Mitchell said as President and Melania Trump greeted Netanyahu and his wife, Sara.
Sara Netanyahu joined the prime minister for his visit to the White House and joint press conference with Trump.
Mitchell pointed out to viewers that Netanyahu's arrival was not a state visit even though it felt like one. She added that the "fanfare" that Trump had orchestrated around Netanyahu's visit was not what other president's had done for the fifty years that she has been following state visits.
