A person on the ABC News live feed of the Republican National Convention Tuesday could be heard saying Republicans are "happy to have a party with black people drowning."
"They aren't concerned at all," the person says on the Tuesday online broadcast. "They are happy to have a party with black people drowning."
It is not clear whether the audio is an ABC staffer or another person or media member in the area.
UPDATE (1:27 p.m.): The voice on the live feed has been identified as Yahoo Washington bureau chief David Chalian. The live stream was broadcast by both Yahoo and ABC News Tuesday.
UPDATE (1:37 p.m.): Yahoo News has fired Chalian, reports Politico's Dylan Byers. Yahoo has released a statement:
"David Chalian's statement was inappropriate and does not represent the views of Yahoo!. He has been terminated effective immediately. We have already reached out to the Romney campaign, and we apologize to Mitt Romney, his staff, their supporters and anyone who was offended."
