Remembering the real heroes on the D-Day anniversary.
MAGA Mad Libs and another "lone wolf" terrorist.
Everyone agrees now: Karine Jean-Pierre is "kinda dumb."
Greta Thunberg learns to swim.
It's Friday, June 6, 2025
We would like to wish everyone, including all the haters and losers (of which, sadly, there are many), a truly happy and enjoyable D-Day anniversary. While it is important to honor the sacrifice of those who gave their lives to liberate Europe and defeat the Nazi menace, the imperative of social justice compels us to reject the toxically masculine and jingoistic impulse to glorify America's military triumph without first acknowledging the queer women of color who spearheaded the Allied war effort.
Now, more than ever, as our structurally oppressive nation struggles to confront an authoritarian threat most fascism scholars agree is at least 75 times more evil than Adolf Hitler, we must recognize that the true defenders of American democracy are not soldiers who carry guns on foreign beaches under enemy fire, they are the intrepid journalists who carry laptops and recording devices, risking their lives to chase down MAGA congressmen on Capitol Hill, and knowing when to retreat when an angry Democrat tells them not write about the president's dementia.
As one media veteran who survived the first Trump administration wrote in the Atlantic after democracy was restored in 2021, serving in that conflict was "thrilling for many journalists, in the way that I imagine storming Omaha Beach must have been for a 20-year-old fresh from the plains of Kansas." Thrilling, indeed, and no less dangerous. On this solemn day, we give thanks to the real heroes in the war against fascism and resolve to be worthy of their courage to endure in the face of such intolerable hardship. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Oh, and if you have any male friends, please ask them to consider joining the Democratic Party.
Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to kill Jews: A Muslim illegal immigrant, granted a work permit by the Biden administration, yelled "Free Palestine" before firebombing an 88-year-old Holocaust survivor and several other peaceful activists marching in support of the Israeli hostages still held in Gaza by Hamas. The attack, involving a homemade flamethrower, took place in Boulder, Colo., a liberal college town and "sanctuary city," just steps from a courthouse adorned with a trans-inclusive pride flag. Doing what comes naturally, Democrats called for gun control while journalists warned of the backlash against peaceful anti-Semites and terrorist sympathizers.
NBC News said the biggest takeaway from the "lone wolf attacks" by Jew-hating psychopaths in Boulder and Washington, D.C., was the lack of security. The quadruple-bylined report didn't really try to explain why the Jewish victims of these attacks would require extra security to walk in public. The flame-throwing terrorist, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, was described as "an Egyptian national," as if he were merely an overly excited tourist unfamiliar with local taboos against firebombing. Most mainstream outlets ignored the man's immigration status, while others searched for a possible motive. When the Trump administration moved to deport the terrorist's wife and five children, who were also in the country illegally, the media rushed to paint them as the real victims of the attack.
An actual headline from USA Today:
Crucial context: Actions have consequences. Also, the United States is not the only country where people are allowed to practice medicine.
What they're saying: Becca Balint, a Democratic congresswoman from Vermont, warned that Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration could leave Americans without "anybody around to wipe our asses," raising a number of disturbing questions about her personal hygiene.
Democrats declare war on DEI: Joe Biden claims to be a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion. He once described himself as "the first black woman to serve with a black president." His botched withdrawal from Afghanistan was one of the most inclusive debacles in American history. Nevertheless, he will likely be remembered as one of the most anti-DEI presidents in modern history.
Biden's former press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, was widely hailed (by the small percentage of weirdos who care) for being the first black lesbian to hold that position. She was also one of the worst White House press secretaries in history. This was obvious at the time to most observers, but Biden aides and their journalist friends defended her anyway, just as they lied to defend Biden against (true) allegations of severe brain dysfunction. Now that Jean-Pierre has annoyed them by leaving the Democratic Party to become an independent and write a book bashing Biden's "broken" White House, the truth can finally be told.
Jean-Pierre, who was lauded earlier this year in Essence magazine as an example of "black excellence," has been ridiculed by former colleagues in recent days for her unparalleled incompetence and shameless self-promotion. She "was one of the most ineffectual and unprepared people I've ever worked with," a former White House official told Axios. "She didn't know how to manage a team, didn't know how to shape or deliver a message, and often created more problems than she solved." Another former White House adviser, Tim Wu, wrote in a since-deleted social media post that the "real problem with Jean-Pierre was that she was kinda dumb" and frequently gave "random incoherent answers on policy." Jean-Pierre, who holds a master's degree from Columbia, secretly enlisted a publicist to help boost her profile, tried (and failed) to get a job on the View, then came out as an independent to hawk her book. "Everyone thinks this is a grift," another former colleague huffed.
Left unsaid, but certainly implied: She never would have gotten the job if she weren't a historic lesbian of color, but the Democratic Party's obsession with DEI tends to result in brainless divas getting undeserved promotions. Kamala Harris is another example. Biden was so proud of himself for nominating a black woman, even though he preferred Gretchen Whitmer, but when Democrats started urging him to step down, his closest aides repeatedly trashed Harris (not unreasonably) as an incompetent politician who couldn't win, which she had already demonstrated during the 2020 primary. Obviously, the Democratic Party isn't going to abandon its DEI obsession, but it's still nice to hear them accidentally admit that they're wrong.
The right man for the job: Democrats are spending $20 million to "study young men" and craft a "strategic plan" to communicate with them. This week we learned that effort is being led by a professional activist who has spent her entire career alienating the men she thinks she can win with "syntax" analysis and "super charged social listening." Ilyse Hogue is the former president of NARAL (now known as Reproductive Freedom for All), a left-wing abortion group that supports defunding the police and free health care for illegal immigrants. Her husband helped organize the widely mocked "White Dudes for Harris" fundraiser. Hogue has compared former NFL protester Colin Kaepernick to Rosa Parks and defended woke terminology such as "pregnant people" and "people who menstruate" for promoting "accuracy, not controversy." Why wouldn't the Democratic Party give her $20 million for male outreach?
Kamala Harris won just 42 percent of the male vote in 2024, the lowest figure on record. Since the election, Hogue has been using her enormous budget to hold focus groups with young men. Many have outlined the (obvious) reasons why Democrats are hemorrhaging support among their demographic. For example, a man of the racial identity formerly known (by Democrats) as Latinx complained that Kamala Harris focused on, "Oh, I got Beyoncé on stage with me. Oh, I got Lady Gaga on stage," and "it just kind of felt like, what does that have to do with me? I'm trying to move up in life."
Best of luck with the rebrand!
CNN vindicated: Jim Acosta, the former CNN host who left "voluntarily" (after turning down a demotion to the graveyard shift) to start his own show on Substack, held a town hall in Washington, D.C., this week. Scores of fans showed up to the Lincoln Theater, almost enough to fill up half the venue. Rosie O'Donnell phoned in from Ireland to cast doubt on the results of the 2024 election. Acosta made several ill-advised attempts at an Irish accent. The crowd laughed when one of the panelists denounced Trump supporters as a bunch of "dick-sucking ass clowns," then fought back tears when Acosta commanded them to hold their cell phones aloft as a reminder that "there's still a lot of light left in all of us."

Celebrities—they're just like us: Donald Trump and Elon Musk are bickering in public.
Greta goes to Gaza: Former child activist Greta Thunberg is sailing to Gaza, presumably to scold Hamas for insufficient progress on its "kill all Jews" initiative, which climate experts believe would make a meaningful dent in global carbon emissions. It's clear that Thunberg didn't learn anything of value when she was skipping school to protest climate change, but we hope someone taught her how to swim.

Chin of the week: Courtesy of Gordon P. Gallagher, the federal judge who blocked the Trump administration from deporting the family of the Colorado firebomber, citing the "irreparable harm" it would cause. (We checked, and it's real.)
