Brief Lockdown at U.S. Capitol Resolved After Reports of Gun on Campus

AP

The U.S. Capitol was on a brief lockdown Friday morning after unconfirmed social media reports said that a woman made it through security with a gun.

Authorities ordered those inside of the Capitol building and Capitol Visitor Center to shelter in place.

Planned votes on the House floor were delayed until the situation was resolved.

The lockdown was lifted minutes after it was ordered, and the Capitol was re-opened.

This post will be updated as further information becomes available.
