The Environmental Protection Agency official who said his goal was to "crucify" oil and gas companies has received more than $540,000 in taxpayer-funded federal grants for environmental projects over the past 8 years. The Daily Caller reports:
The EPA official who bragged about his "crucify them" enforcement philosophy against oil and gas companies — a story The Daily Caller was the first to report on Wednesday – has collected or shared in at least $540,522 in taxpayer dollars from the federal government to fund environmental projects that stretched from 2004 to 2010.
President Barack Obama appointed Alfredo "Al" Armendariz as the administrator for EPA’s South Central Region (Region 6) in Nov. 2009. Since his appointment he has been a thorn in the side of energy producers.
Armendariz received $299,000 for a three-year study on the "Control of Workplace Diesel Exhaust Particulate," $45,000 for research on "Development of a Field Test for Detecting Hydrocarbons in Soils" and shared a $196,000 to study the "Acquisition of a Volumetric, 3-Component Particle Displacement and Velocity Measurement System for Mechanical and Environmental Engineering Measurements."
Earlier this week, Sen. James Inhofe (R., Okla.) announced an investigation into the EPA in light of Amendariz’s controversial remarks.
