Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel’s troubles with coherent messaging continued during a Senate Armed Services hearing on Wednesday.
Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) asked Hagel if the U.S. intelligence sources had correctly predicted that the Russians would invade Crimea.
Hagel dodged the question saying he would not "get into the specifics in an opening hearing" but stressed that that the U.S. was "well aware" of Russia’s intentions.
However, Hagel strangely finished his back-and-forth with McCain stating, "So this wasn’t sudden or new that we didn’t know what was going on."
