NBC's Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel reports ISIL is collecting, buying, and trading foreign hostages in Syria.
This report comes a day after ISIL beheaded U.S. journalist James Foley.
Engel said "between 30 and 40 Western hostages" are currently located in Syria.
"ISIL has been collecting them. They've been buying them from other groups, they've been trading them. Sometimes they've been stealing them off of militants. So now almost all of the foreign hostages are being held by this very dangerous group."
