DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse praised the Bush tax cuts opposed by President Barack Obama for helping the middle class on the Fernando Espuelas Show on Tuesday.
Republicans and Democrats don’t want to see—especially at a time when the economy needs all the fuel it can get—don’t want to see us raising taxes on the middle class. So, for example, some of the Bush tax cuts did some good things for the middle class and certainly don’t want to see tax increases on the middle class.
Obama has repeatedly called Bush’s program a "tax cut for the wealthy" in his calls for repeal after extending the cuts in 2010.
Woodhouse is not the only prominent Democrat who has broken from the president on the issue. Former President Bill Clinton warned that ending the tax cuts now would hurt the economy during a June 5 interview on CNBC.
