Attorney Alan Dershowitz said on "Piers Morgan Live" Tuesday that more could have been done to track the activities of deceased Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev but "you don't want to overdo the surveillance."
"If he's not a citizen you have much more control over his travels, much more control over his ability to leave the country, his ability to return to the country," he said. "He has far fewer rights when it comes to being surveilled abroad. In the country, he still has rights. You don't want to overdo the surveillance, but there's a lot more that could have been done."
Dershowitz has joined other liberals in criticizing law enforcement officials for using the public safety exception to delay reading Dzhokhar Tsarnaev his Miranda rights.
