ABC’s Jon Karl reports President Obama offered a mixed message during a Wednesday presser when discussing the United States’ strategy to deal with ISIL.
"The bottom line is this: Our objective is clear, and that is to degrade and destroy ISIL so it is no longer a threat," Obama initially said.
Later in the presser, ABC’s Ann Compton pressed Obama to clarify whether the United States now wants ISIS destroyed and the president seemed to significantly backtrack.
"Our objective is to make sure they aren’t an ongoing threat to the region," he said.
Karl slammed Obama for this, saying, "So in the course of one set of remarks, he went from talking about destroying this terrorist group to making it into a manageable problem."
