It's a tough time to be a member of His Majesty's people. The economy is chronically stagnant. The housing market is even worse (unless you're a migrant). Pessimism is soaring. It takes years to see a dentist. Nobody is having babies anymore (except for migrants). And if you complain online, you end up in jail.
But beams of light can pierce through even the darkest of clouds, and even a shithole like the United Kingdom contains a few such beams. They are the Last Brits Standing.
There's David Collier, the independent journalist who blew the whistle on the BBC's efforts to launder Hamas propaganda into an anti-Israel documentary. The film passed off the 13-year-old son of a Hamas minister as a neutral narrator. Collier got it pulled from the BBC's streaming service and sparked a long-overdue reckoning about the broadcaster's manifest anti-Israel bias.
Another BBC whistleblower followed in Collier’s footsteps. Michael Prescott, a former adviser to the network’s Editorial Guidelines and Standards Committee, penned a scathing report demonstrating that, like, the BBC will abandon them all in the service of maligning Donald Trump and the state of Israel. The report revealed how the BBC misleadingly doctored a Trump speech about the Jan. 6 riots and routinely featured anti-Semitic figures—including people who described Jews as "devils" and praised Hitler—as on-air contributors. The broadcaster's director general and CEO eventually resigned as a result.
Then there is British comedian Graham Linehan, who told the ladies of the United Kingdom—the real ones, the ones without testicles—to stand up for themselves when men claiming to be women trespass into female bathrooms and locker rooms. "Make a scene, call the cops, and if all else fails, punch him in the balls," Linehan advised. Five police officers were dispatched to arrest him, but Linehan did not back down: He pleaded not guilty, beat the charges, and has continued sticking up for women as loudly as ever.
We'd be remiss if we didn’t also recognize Tommy Robinson. The man vilified as a white supremacist and oppressor of marginalized communities has made it a point to stand up for the kingdom's most marginalized community of all: British Jews. Robinson, who comes from a working-class background, understands something that his nation's elites refuse to see: that the jihadists who dream of turning Israel into an Islamist state seek to see the entire West—Britain included—brought to heel. In his words: "If Israel falls, we all fall."
The United Kingdom is still probably f—ed, as 100-year-old World War II veteran Alec Penstone acknowledged when he told Good Morning Britain that his country "is worse than it was when I fought for it." But hope is not lost as long as these four men stay in the fight—and now, they can charge ahead as Washington Free Beacon Men of the Year.
