2024 Man of the Year: Miss Meowerson

In the year 2024, it's not always clear who wears the pants in a particular household.

Gone are the days when scores of masculine men trudged off to work as their drugged-out wives tended to domestic duties. Now, scores of women trudge off to work, too, oftentimes to rake in more dough than their schlubby husbands. In many cases, the pantsuits have replaced the pants.

But in the Amish Shah household, the familial roles are even more nonconformist. Shah, who ran for Congress against Republican David Schweikert in Arizona, is certainly not the head of the home. Nor is his girlfriend. In fact, the one calling the shots is neither man nor woman. It's Shah's cat, Miss Meowerson.

Shah, you see, ran for Congress in Arizona's First Congressional District. He owns a home, however, in a ritzy country club neighborhood located one district over, meaning he would not have been able to vote for himself in his bid to take down Schweikert.

To rectify that situation, Shah and his girlfriend began renting a condo in the first district. Shah updated his voter registration to reflect the address to that condo. All he had to do to avoid scrutiny was actually move there.

Miss Meowerson wouldn't have it.

Accustomed to a life of luxury and luscious golf greens, Miss Meowerson put her paw down. She wouldn't be leaving Shah's mansion for some second-rate condo. And she wasn't going to hide it, either.

In a fundraising email she sent for Shah's campaign, Miss Meowerson included a selfie from the country club house's kitchen. "I'm the real campaign manager/boss of my dad's campaign," she asserted. "When I'm not hard at work running dad's campaign, I can be found … waiting for my dad to come back from door-knocking so he can give me treats."

In other words, bend the knee, bitch. Miss Meowerson ain't leaving. And you better bring treats.

The email exposed Shah's embarrassing living situation. The Democrat went on to lose to Schweikert by 3 points. Had he toppled the incumbent, he could have given the libs an effective House majority as Republicans scrambled to fill vacancies. Instead, Schweikert will serve an eighth term.

Miss Meowerson is, obviously, a miss. But she's clearly the man of the house. For that, and for tanking Dad's congressional bid, she's also a Washington Free Beacon Man of the Year.
