HealthCare.gov, the federal Obamacare website, isn't the only website with issues following the rollout of the Affordable Care Act. There are also problems in the states that set up their own websites using taxpayer dollars.
CBS’ Jan Crawford reported Thursday morning that 15 states are spending exorbitant amounts of money to set up their own healthcare websites, spending more than $1.1 billion. The states often pay the same government contractors to do the same job, just in different states.
California has spent $359 million, New York has spent $161 million, Kentucky has spent $100 million, and Oregon has spent $50 million. President Obama touted that Oregon has had 56,000 residents enroll in Medicaid. Oregon’s website does not work. Their website has yet to enroll a single person. The new Medicaid enrollments Obama bragged about came through applications residents mailed in.
