Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized on Tuesday the importance of denouncing anti-Semitism and praised President Trump's recent statement on the issue.
Trump said on Tuesday that anti-Semitism is "horrible," "painful," and it has to "stop."
Netanyahu responded by describing Trump's stance as "strong," and saying that making the statement was "very important."
"It’s very important that President Trump took a strong stand against anti-Semitism, and it’s very important that we all continue to do so in the years ahead," Netanyahu said in an Australian synagogue.
Trump's and Netanyahu's comments came after a wave of anti-Semitic threats in the United States.
"Anti-Semitic threats targeting our Jewish community and community centers are horrible and are painful and a very sad reminder of the work that still must be done to root out hate and prejudice and evil," Netanyahu said.
