Four people were charged Thursday with a hate crime in Chicago in connection with a live-stream video that allegedly showed them torturing and assaulting a teenager with special needs.

The four African-American individuals also face a slew of other charges relating to the incident, according to ABC 7 News in Chicago.

Jordan Hill, 18, of Carpentersville; Tesfaye Cooper, 18, of Chicago; Brittany Covington, 18, of Chicago; and Tanishia Covington, 24, of Chicago were each charged with aggravated kidnapping, hate crime, aggravated unlawful restraint, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and residential burglary. Hill was also charged with robbery and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

The video shows the victim, who police said has mental disabilities, was forced to drink toilet water, slashed, beaten, and yelled at.

The Chicago Police Department said the victim, 18, had previously met at least one of the accused perpetrators. The unnamed victim had been reported missing by his parents on Monday. He was located by police officers on Tuesday afternoon wandering around the west side of Chicago after being held captive by the alleged perpetrators for between 24 and 48 hours.

Investigators are still trying to establish a motive for the crime as of Thursday afternoon.

Police said they don't know the motive behind the apparent torture or the suspects' decision to film it. But they investigated the attack as a hate crime. At one point, the teens, who are black, told the victim, who is white, to say he loves black people.

The video also includes the accused attackers yelling expletives about white people and President-elect Donald Trump.

Facebook released a statement on Thursday saying the site has since removed the video for violating its community standards. These standards state that Facebook has employees working around the clock to monitor live videos for explicit content.
