Democratic former Florida county commissioner Kevin White was sentenced to three years in prison on Monday for federal bribery and corruption charges.
The Associated Press reports:
A federal judge on Monday sentenced 47-year-old Kevin White to three years in prison, three years of supervised release and $7,500 in fines. A jury found White guilty in November of conspiracy, bribery, wire fraud and lying to the FBI.
Prosecutors say White conspired to accept $8,000 in bribes and a luxury SUV in exchange for helping three prospective wrecker company operators win certificates from a county transportation commission that he chaired.
White, a Democrat, is a former Tampa city councilman who served one term on the county commission before he was defeated for re-election in 2010.
