Dem Water Commissioner Arrested for Drunk Driving

The Democrat water resources commissioner of Calhoun County in Alabama was arrested Friday night on drunk driving charges.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports:

Larry Cortright, 55, of Albion was arrested after he allegedly struck two parked cars in a Clarence Township restaurant parking lot and then drove about a mile to his home with Calhoun County Sheriff deputies in pursuit.

Department officials did not release Cortright’s name but he confirmed to the Enquirer on Saturday afternoon that he was arrested.

"This isn’t in my character," he said. "I made a big mistake. I will have to take my lumps and go to court and pay my dues. It’s a bad deal for me but I will have to take my punishment like anyone else in Calhoun County. I feel terrible about it."
