Fox News Live anchor Gregg Jarrett asked Sen. David Vitter (R., La.) why Sen. Mark Kirk (R., Ill.) did not vote on the Keystone XL amendment. Kirk suffered a stroke in January and is still recovering in Illinois.
SEN. DAVID VITTER: Again, I think we're seeing that movement in progress. I think yesterday's vote was another positive sign of that. We don't have the 60 votes in the Senate yet, but yes, I think we're getting there, day-by-day.
GREGG JARRETT: Why didn't Mark Kirk and John Thune vote --
VITTER: I'm sorry?
JARRETT: Why didn't Mark Kirk, and John Thune, Republicans, cast a vote?
VITTER: Mark Kirk is recovering from a bad stroke, so he hasn't been there in weeks.
JARRETT: Right.
Perhaps Jarrett’s ignorance on this issue could be partly excused, since the president failed to mention Kirk’s medical emergency in his January State of the Union address.
