Americans View Obamacare Launch As ‘Bumpy’

A new Pew Research Center poll released Monday shows that the public has a negative outlook on the launch of Obamacare.

Only 29 percent of people polled said that the new online health insurance exchanges are working well, compared to 46 percent that said the exchanges are working not too or not at all well.

The poll also shows that not many people are visiting an exchange website, even among the uninsured.

Only 22 percent of the uninsured say that they have already visited a site, although an additional 42 percent say that they intend to. Among the already insured, 12 percent say they have visited, and 19 percent say that they intend to.

The poll also found there to be a partisan split in how Americans view the exchanges. While a plurality of Democrats (44 percent) say that they found the exchanges to be working well, just 25 percent of independents and an even smaller 14 percent of Republicans found them to be working well.

The survey was conducted Oct. 9-13 among 1,504 adults across the country.
