Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.) on Thursday voiced opposition on the House floor to funding Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system. She accused Israel of carrying out an "apartheid" and called Israel's May conflict with Hamas, in which Israeli civilians were killed in rocket attacks, a "manufactured" crisis.
Rep. Ted Deutch (D., Fla.) then took to the House floor and denounced his colleague's statements against Israel.
"I cannot allow one of my colleagues to stand on the floor of the House of Representatives and label the Jewish democratic state of Israel an apartheid state," Deutch said. "When there is no place on the map for one Jewish state, that's anti-Semitism."
