WFB's Ellison Barber Defends Humor

November 7, 2013

The Washington Free Beacon's Ellison Barber discussed the CMA Awards skit mocking Obamacare's flawed website Thursday on The Kelly File, saying there was no reason to see any racism in the routine as some on the Left did.

"It's good to poke fun at the government," she said. "You have an hour to kill. What else are you going to do in that time? Everyone seems to agree that there are problems with this website, so it's the easiest, middle-of-the-road thing to mock."

Barber pointed out no one got indignant when Chris Rock mocked the Bush administration while hosting the Oscars, and Kelly also played clips of various late-night comedians like Jon Stewart, Jay Leno and David Letterman making fun of the well-documented website problems Obamacare has faced since its launch.

Country music stars Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood mocked the failed Obamacare rollout while hosting the awards show Wednesday night on ABC, singing a satirical version of a George Strait song and joking they would get hemorrhoids sitting around waiting for the website to load.
