Sanford: The One Thing People Know About Busch is She's Stephen Colbert's Sister

Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford said an internal poll released by Democratic opponent Elizabeth Colbert Busch showing her slightly ahead in the state's race for the vacant 1st District House seat was based more on name identification than anything substantive.

"You could come up with a whole host of votes for me or Joe [Scarborough] that people liked or they didn't like," the former Congressman said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." "She's not held office. Right now, the one thing that people know about her is that she's Stephen Colbert's sister. Well, at the end of the day, Stephen Colbert is a very popular, well-regarded comedian, but at the end of the day he's not on the ticket and we're going to have a debate about ideas."

Sanford won the Republican nomination for his old House seat Tuesday night.
