Mediaite reports that MSNBC will announce on Thursday that three shows in their afternoon lineup will be cancelled.
The three reportedly set to be cut are roundtable discussion show The Cycle at 3 p.m. EST, Now with Alex Wagner at 4 p.m., and The Ed Show with Ed Schultz at 5 p.m.
Chuck Todd, who formerly hosted The Daily Rundown weekday mornings on the network, will take Schultz’s slot while continuing to moderate Meet the Press on Sundays.
There is no information on who will replace the 3:00-5:00 p.m. slot, but there is speculation that it might be former NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams. Williams was suspended and ultimately removed from his network position after it was discovered he fabricated several stories.
MSNBC ratings have been dismal, finishing behind HLN and its sister network CNBC at one point last month in the 25-54 demographic.
