O’Reilly: American Press ‘Corrupt’

'There’s no question the major national media in America is trying to protect President Obama'

Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly denounced the mainstream media for their bias in reporting stories. O’Reilly expressed his frustration with the obvious bias Wednesday night on The O’Reilly Factor.

The Fox News host referenced the Chris Christie Bridgegate story. "The story is valid and the network news went wild with it, devoting 112 minutes to the situation in the first week," O’Reilly fumed.

When the recent VA scandal broke, it garnered "no coverage on the nightly network news broadcast for almost two weeks. No coverage," said O’Reilly. The IRS lost emails story received a mere three minutes and 14 seconds of coverage on all the network newscasts. O’Reilly called the lack of coverage for these two pressing issues "unbelievable" and "a news blackout."

Chris Christie’s Bridegate was written about 56 times by the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the Washington Post in its first week. The VA scandal was only written about twice during its first week, and the IRS scandal was written about just three times during its first week.

"That corruption in the media is greatly harming this nation…There’s no question about it. There’s no question the major national media in America is trying to protect President Obama," he said.

"It is a shame that in a proud republic, in a vibrant democracy, the American press is so corrupt," he added.
