NBC News announced Wednesday that it has fired longtime "Today" anchor Matt Lauer for "inappropriate sexual behavior."
The morning news show's Twitter account released a tweet with video of host Savannah Guthrie, who was joined by Hoda Kotb, reading a statement from NBC News chairman Andy Lack. Throughout the segment, Guthrie was on the verge of tears.
"Matt Lauer has been terminated from NBC News. On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer. As a result, we've decided to terminate his employment," the show's Twitter account said.

President Donald Trump also took to Twitter on Wednesday morning, calling for NBC executives to be fired for "fake news." Trump then pointed toward "Lack's past."
"Wow, Matt Lauer was just fired from NBC for 'inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.' But when will the top executives at NBC & Comcast be fired for putting out so much Fake News. Check out Andy Lack's past!" Trump tweeted.
