Yves Rossy, the world's first "jet-powered man," will make his first public U.S. flight today at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis.
Rossy takes to skies with nothing but a homemade jetpack strapped to him and uses its four engines to propel himself at speeds up to 150 mph. He goes as high as 12,000 feet, but typically stays around 5,000 feet in order to execute aerial maneuvers.
Rossy’s jetpack is so unusual the FAA has classified him as an experimental aircraft.
