CNN’s Jeanne Moos compiled all of the memes that the internet made of the 19-year-old who decided to scale Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday, and put them into a hilarious segment on Friday.
Host Erica Hill prefaced the segment by saying that the climber, Stephen Rogata, was trying to get to the top of Trump Tower to give Donald Trump a message.
"Well, whatever the reason, it certainly stopped New Yorkers in their tracks and, as Jeanne Moos reports, it sent the internet into a meme making frenzy," Hill said.
Moos started by describing the climber’s slow movements up the Tower.
She said that despite Rogata’s slow pace, there were some moments of "true drama" during the ascension and search for Trump.
"And there were moments of true drama when emergency services knocked out glass to get to him and when they dragged him in," she said.
The crowd can be heard cheering in the video.
"It was one of those summer stories made for internet jokesters," Moos said.
She then unleashed the memes that the internet created.
"The climber was inserted behind the Donald in his famous taco-bowl photo," Moos said.
"Before everyone learned that was Steve from Virginia, there were guesses," she said.
One was New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R.).
Another guess was Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) "looking for delegates," Moos said.
Rogata was also accused of copying Toy Story when Buzz Lightyear climbed up the elevator shaft using magnets.
"But the number one meme, the visual joke that really left a mark was this," Moos said.
The climber can be seen photoshopped onto Olympic Gold-Medalist Michael Phelps.
"And here you thought the circles were from cupping therapy," Moos said.
The segment ended with Rogata and Trump posing together.
But all jokes aside, Rogata is facing criminal charges, including reckless endangerment and criminal trespassing.
