1700s Ship Found in World Trade Center Ruins

In 2010, a 1700s-era ship was found in the ruins of the World Trade Center. Researchers have now dated the ship to around 1773.

Columbia University researchers also discovered that wood in the ship's frame matches the white oak from a Philadelphia forest used to build Independence Hall.

The ship had been sunk in the Hudson River, perhaps intentionally to fill in Manhattan's shore.
