The Washington, D.C., television market recently has been a sort of farm system for ESPN to recruit from for their national coverage. It really was only a matter of time for the Worldwide Leader to reap local legend Britt McHenry, a move made official back in March.
Now it's football season and in D.C,. there’s the Redskins and then everything else. Britt is primped and primed for a breakout season on the national scene.
Britt won't have to go far for her star making turn. Her deal with Bristol allows her to be primarily a Washington-area correspondent.
Sources in the D.C. sports press corps who've shared locker room press time with Britt have told me that she is fabulous to work with. Players are much more open for interviews when they encounter Britt's sunny disposition.
The D.C. sports reporter pilgrimage started first with WUSA's Sara Walsh and then WRC's Lindsay Czarniak.
Britt has a true passion for the D.C. metro area. She was initially hired away by Fox Sports San Diego to be the Padres' dugout reporter only to return back to D.C. after a few weeks because "her heart is here." She is likely the only person on the planet to make that decision. It's reassuring, however, to know Britt won't be leaving the DMV for Connecticut anytime soon.
I'll take this opportunity to share Britt's quick bio for those of you who haven't enjoyed her work locally on WJLA. Britt played soccer at Northwestern and was a fashion model.
She's the closest thing D.C. has to its own Khaleesi.
I hope the Redskins will be somewhat relevant this season only because that means more national face-time for Britt. The country is ready for her close-up.
#rg3 had a wide open DeSean Jackson downfield at practice. Under threw it, pass broken up.

Hopefully for your sake America, the Redskins hold up their end of the bargain.
