Medal of Honor recipient/living legend/U.S. Marine Cpl. Dakota Meyer has dedicated his post-service career to being an advocate for veterans programs, in addition to lobbying Congress to expedite the visa for his heroic Afghan translator.
Fed up with the bureaucratic limbo that has led to the first government shutdown in nearly two decades, Meyer took to Twitter to vent his frustrations.
I've decided I think that for everyday the federal government shuts down, we shouldn't have to pay federal taxes. What about you??

With some prompting, Meyer stated the obvious solution to our problems.
"@ski0331USMC: @Dakota_Meyer yes sounds great! You should run for office" I'm thinking about it!

Leave it to the baddest living Millennial to run into the fray to save Americans. Again.
Congress 2016, POTUS 2024!

Meyer's supporters responded with full-throated enthusiasm.
@N_J_Anderson @Dakota_Meyer Lets get this done how #Marines know how to get things done. You have my #Vote. #SemperFidelis — Gregory A. Banks (@GregBanksGTAC) October 1, 2013
As they should.
@Dakota_Meyer will have my vote! America needs a man of his character in our government. — Colton J Kramer (@ColtonKramer) October 1, 2013
If he were in Congress today, Meyer would be only the third Marine serving.
How bout my buddy -> "@Dakota_Meyer: Congress 2016, POTUS 2024!"
— Marty Smith (@MartySmithESPN) October 1, 2013
If he were to run, he would succeed Sen. Daniel Inouye as a Medal of Honor recipient serving in Congress.
@Dakota_Meyer @ski0331USMC You really should! It would be nice to have someone who cares about the people he's supposed to be representing!
— Karen Bonsell (@augustnyne) October 1, 2013
The Marines I know aren't that concerned with partisan politics. So it would really be something to see a leatherneck lace himself up to serve as "Devil Dog in Chief."
Semper Fi! RT @Dakota_Meyer: Congress 2016, POTUS 2024!

When America needs first responders to a crisis, we call the United States Marie Corps. Dakota, why wait until 2016?
We need you now.
