Super Bowl Media Day is a jarring experience for the die-hard football fan. It’s the one day of the year when our hobby and borderline-obsession is invaded by hundreds of correspondents asking players if the Super Bowl is a "must-win" game, and provides an opportunity for Rick Reilly to make a fool of himself.
The whole thing is ridiculous and depressing, right until you’re reminded that come next Saturday weekends will be wide open. It’s a sobering thought.
Since Bloomberg was able to ask Wes Welker how he plans for the future (his answer: saving), why not use this opportunity to talk about the teams behind the teams taking the field Sunday?
I'm talking cheerleaders.
For the Denver Broncos, here are some standouts:
Angela is balancing her career as a cheersmoke with life as a full-time student at Colorado State University.
Christina C is both a paralegal and a business owner. Backbone of America!
Emily M is a Marine Project Engineer. There's a lot of chemistry between Emily and Bronco fans.
Sam finds her role as a Broncos cheerleader harder than her regular 9 to 5 gig as a professional ballet dancer. She does not own a TV.
And here are some of the standouts for the Seattle Seahawks:
Christian was drafted into the Sea Gals right out of high school. She's the Ezra Klein of cheerleading.
Alicia is a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Thank you for your service!
Stephanie, to jog your memory, is an ordained minister. No word if any aspiring 12th man has popped her the question.
The most impressive cheersmoke of either squad is Mhkeeba. She's an attorney for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She's also the best thing to come out of Microsoft since Windows XP.
Nobody makes stars quite like the NFL.
