Floating a rumor that the long-languishing Entourage movie is pursuing Kate Upton is more canny than any coup Ari engineered in the show’s eight seasons.
The Wrap reported from "multiple individuals familiar with the Warner Bros. project" that Kate is being considered to join the cast. Marky Mark, like this here Editor's Blog, knows the key to positive PR is associating with Kate.
Kate would be cast, obviously, as the target of Vince’s affections.
Vince being romantically involved with a lady of Kate's stature was believable in 2004 when Entourage debuted and Adrian Grenier was 27. Grenier will be nearly 40 by the time the movie shoots. If Kate is indeed the lead, the only way they're gonna make this plot work is if Vince is a George Clooney/Leo DiCaprio-type who is fabulously wealthy and respected in Hollywood.
But Entourage only worked when Vince was the underdog. Why would Kate want to hitch herself to Aquaman when she could be with Thor?
The Entourage movie has been embroiled in negative press for so long it's no wonder someone behind the scenes decided to spice things up with an Upton rumor. I suspect it's Rahm and Zeke's brother who's behind the Kate news.
The only upside from this news is Kate has single-handily justified the movie's California state subsidies.
Give 'em hell, Kate.
