President Obama broke some news during his edgy comedic interview with bearded thespian/Obama for America donor Zack Galifianakis:

"It must kind of stink, though, that you can’t run, you know three times," Galifianakis observed during the interview.

Obama’s response was somewhat unexpected. "No, actually I think it’s a good idea," he said, before launching the following "zinger": "You know, if I ran a third time it’d be sort of like doing a third ‘Hangover’ meeting. It didn’t really work out very well, did it?"

No, it didn’t:

In fact, the second effort was pretty poorly received as well, despite earning a ton of money:

It might actually be a pretty apt comparison. That 34 percent rating is just a few points shy of the president’s approval rating, which recently hit a new low of 38 percent.

But back to Obama’s answer with respect to term limits. It is newsworthy because the president has, on multiple occasions, implied that he would prefer a more authoritarian office than the one he holds. Among the things Obama has lamented he is not:

It’s unclear if Obama’s opinion on term limits would be any different if his approval ratings were higher. Either way, he did not rule out a 2016 run by his wife, Michelle Obama.
