The media is in crisis about the state of American democracy.
Since January of 2017, the media has sounded the alarm about how democracy in the United States is in danger, that it's under attack, in shambles, or even near death. The reason for their hysteria is President Donald Trump. Reporters like MSNBC anchors Stephanie Ruhle and Ali Velshi did a whole segment in December that listed all the times Trump has "undermined American democracy."
"The news cycle is intense. We feel it, you feel it. So let's take a moment to broaden out for a second and talk about the ways that President Trump has undermined American democracy in his first year in office," Ruhle said.
In addition to citing Russian President Vladamir Putin's efforts to intervene in the 2016 U.S. election as an example of American democracy being under attack, reporters have gone further to accuse Trump's actions like tweeting, firing former FBI director James Comey, and attacking the press for "fake news," as also undermining democracy.
Reporters' allegiance is to democracy except when it comes to covering a sister of a murderous North Korean dictator.
