MSNBC correspondent Ari Melber on Friday called White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci a "studio gangster" who is "not tough."
Melber appeared on "Morning Joe" to discuss Scaramucci's new controversial interview with the New Yorker in which he went off on President Donald Trump's chief strategist, Steve Bannon, and White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.
"There's a distinction in hip-hop between real gangsters and studio gangsters. Anthony Scaramucci is a studio gangster, OK," Melber said. "He's so tough that when he wants to say something to Steve Bannon, he calls the New Yorker magazine in liberal New York and says it to someone else."
"This is classic studio gangster behavior. It is not tough, it is not strong, it is not how you look someone face to face," Melber said. "If he has an issue with Bannon he should say something to Bannon."
Melber was referring to when Scaramucci told the New Yorker that, unlike other senior Trump administration officials, he is not seeking media attention.
"I'm not Steve Bannon, I'm not trying to suck my own cock," Scaramucci said. "I'm not trying to build my own brand off the fucking strength of the president. I'm here to serve the country."
