Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) is continuing to fuel speculation for a 2020 presidential run as she plans to make another trip to the Hamptons this upcoming weekend to meet with Democratic power brokers and donors.
The rising Democratic star will have a private meeting on Friday with Hollywood liberal kingmaker Harvey Weinstein and his wife Georgina Chapman, in addition to a separate dinner with many guests, including Sen. Cory Booker (D., N.J.) and former Attorney General Eric Holder, according to Page Six.
Also on Friday, we hear she'll meet with a group in Bridgehampton, including ex-Ambassador to the UN Susan E. Rice and business honchos such as Citigroup's Ray McGuire and PepsiCo's Tony West.
On Saturday, Harris will attend a reception for 300 people at the East Hampton home of her friend, Infor CEO Charles E. Phillips, as well as a fund-raiser at the home of Lisa Rosenblum.
Page Six reported she'll also appear at the Hamptons home of MWWPR guru Michael Kempner.
"She's on overdrive. It's not just about the money ... that's the easy part for her. She wants to meet the influential," a source told Page Six, regarding Harris' schedule.
"Kamala Harris' singular focus is representing California in the US Senate and helping take back the House and Senate [for Democrats]. This trip is about the fight for '18, period, end of sentence," said Sean Clegg, Harris' strategist.
This will be the second weekend in a row that Harris will be in the Hamptons meeting and shaking hands with Democratic power brokers, as she was schmoozing with Hillary Clinton's biggest donors last Saturday in the Hamptons.
Harris is not only meeting with some of the top Democratic donors around the country, but she is also paying money to the same media firm that helped boost Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) when he ran for president last year, the Washington Free Beacon reported.
Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.) has paid the online media firm that helped propel Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders during his dark horse run for the 2016 Democratic primary more than $400,000 this year, filings show.
Revolution Messaging LLC, a Washington, D.C.-based progressive online media firm founded by Scott Goodstein, an online director for Obama for America in 2008, was instrumental in helping push Sanders's message out and raise his profile during his race against Hillary Clinton by creating his digital and branding strategy.
While there has been a lot of chatter about Harris' potential presidential bid, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.) downplayed her viability as a presidential contender in 2020 by saying that "she just got here."
Harris was elected to the Senate last November.
