Trump Met with Cheers from CIA Officers When Criticizing the Media

January 21, 2017

President Donald Trump was met with cheers from Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officers on Saturday when he criticized the media's portrayal of the relationship between him and the agency.

"As you know I have a running war with the media," Trump said. "They are among the most dishonest human beings on earth."

Trump was immediately met with laughs and cheers from the crowd of roughly 400 people, according to Politico.

"They sort of made it sound like I had a feud with the intelligence community, and I just wanted to let you know that the reason you're the number one stop is because you are exactly the opposite," Trump said.

The CIA headquarters was the first stop for Trump since his inauguration on Friday. The president also reassured the intelligence agency that they had his full support while standing in front of the marble wall that contains 117 stars that represent the lives of the agents that were killed while serving the country.

Trump's nominee to run the CIA, Rep. Mike Pompeo (R., Ks.), is set to be confirmed on Monday by the Senate.
